Giddy-on-up to Wickenburg's Wild West Run! Cinch up your shoes, secure your hat, and come run (or walk!) through Arizona's most western town.  Following an out-and-back course beginning at Sunset Park (3020 W. Wickenburg Way, Wickenburg, AZ 85390), the race takes a gradually descending path east until reaching the 5k turnaround.  Heading south and with the majestic Vulture Peak off in the distance, 10k and half-marathon runners face a gradual climb in elevation until reaching their respective turnaround points.  10k participants turn around just beyond Wickenburg's Los Caballeros Golf Course, while half-marathon runners continue through Wickenburg's scenic terrain and gently rolling hills for another 3.45 miles before turning back. Having gradually ascended above the town, the turnaround gives participants a picturesque view of Wickenburg and its surrounding beauty.  You won't find a more beautiful run in all of Arizona.  Enjoy your run!  And yes!  You can run in your spurs; just don't squat!

Race Information

Race-day registration and packet pickup begins at 6:00 a.m. Packets includes a goodie bag, performance t-shirt, and a race bib with timing chip. Shirt sizes are only guaranteed to runners who pre-register. A limited quantity of shirts will be available to race-day registrants.

 

Bag Check-In

Bag check-in will be available for all participants to drop off gear prior to the race. Bag check-in is free. Event staff will sort your bag according to your bib number. You can claim your belongings later with your bib. Checked bags not picked up on race day will be donated. We will take the utmost care with all items left at the bag check-in, but please DO NOT leave valuables or expensive items. We are not responsible for lost items.

 

Race Morning

Please be sure to arrive early so you are ready to go with your bib/timing chip when your race starts. The half marathon will begin at 6:30 am. The 10k will start at 7:00 am, followed by the 5k at 7:15 am. The 1-Mile Kids' Fun Run will be at 9:30 am.  There is a 3 hour time limit on the 1/2 marathon so if you feel that you can't make it in that time span please sign up for our 10k.

 

Race Timing

The races will be timed using chip timing. All chips will be distributed race morning with the bibs. Chips are disposable and are attached to the bibs worn throughout the race. Mats at the finish line will record the finishing time for each chip. To ensure accurate timing and tracking during the race, please attach the bib to the front of your shirt or shorts.

 

Kids' Fun Run

The Kids' Fun Run is a 1-mile course for children 10 and under beginning at 9:30 am. Each participant will receive a shirt and a participation medal. Each participant may be accompanied by one adult on the course. The Kids' Fun Run will not be timed.

 

Awards

Medals will be awarded to the top finishers in each age bracket, male and female, as well as medals to the overall top finishers of each race. Overall Top Finishers will not be included in his/her age bracket awards.  Age categories for the 5k & 10k are as follows: 12 and under, 13-15, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+. Age brackets for the half marathon race are: 19 and under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60+. All half marathon participants will receive a finisher's medal. Prizes will be given for the Best Dressed of the West outfits, so don't forget your hat, your 'stache, your spurs, and your chaps, 'cuz you might make off with the loot.

 

Photos

Photographers will be taking pictures on the course, as well as candid photos at the park. A free photo op area will be available near the Start/Finish area.  

 

Pets

Unfortunately, we are unable to allow pets on the course at this time.

 

Strollers

Strollers are allowed on the course. However, we ask that you line up towards the back of the start line to ensure the safety of all involved.

 

Post-Race Roundup Party

Bring your littles to spring around in the bounce house and enjoy the beautiful scenery. Outfit yourself with some new active wear from Savvy, visit Strebor for a delicious dirty soda or shaved ice or stop in to see what Hassayampa Health Services has to offer. Or simply gather with friends or family for a free western photo op and let the kids play. We're hearding in all the animals, you won't be disappointed.
